La Luna

A boy's first day on the job of the family business is more beautiful than any one of us could imagine.

Know Your Rights

For some reason my computer gets a bit fritzy when I play this clip. It's almost as if someone doesn't want you to view it.

From the good people at hitRECord.

hitRECord, episode 1

Joseph Gordon Levitt started hitRECord during some "down time" he found on his hands after returning from school back to acting.

As my mom would say, being busy is a great way to never be discouraged.

Shine Your Way

I finally got around to checking out The Croods and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it.

The closing credits are accompanied by a cute little number by Owl City and Yuna.

The Cat Piano

Based on a poem by Eddie White (read the full text here http://catpianofilm.com/media/#poem)

“THE CAT PIANO began as poem in the style of beat poets such as Jack Kerouac mixed with the romantic poems of Edgar Allen Poe. The subject matter was inspired by an old instrument that actually existed in the 17th century called The Cat Piano. It was an incredibly cruel instrument that poked a different cat’s tail with each key struck. It was for the twisted entertainment of a decadent German Prince and dubbed KATZENKLAVIER in Germany. This horrific instrument has been forever banished from music history.”

Here now is the complete short film narrated by Nick Cave with music by Benjamin Speed

Michael Jackson Animation

King of Pop Michael Jackson would have celebrated his 55th birthday tomorrow, August 29 and there's no shortage of tributes available online.

Here are two of my favorites, both from Kiminori Tanoue who reminds us that love is in the details.

These videos match their originals almost frame by frame.

Thriller ... Look past the fact that they’re monkeys and you have some pretty good, not to mention pretty scary animation.

Beat It ... Even the jittery break dancer is in there.

a-ha ~ Take On Me

This video was the coolest thing ever when it first came out. Viewing it again nearly 30 years later and it's still pretty cool.

The Longest Daycare and Paperman

My favorite Oscar Nominated Animated Short for 2013 was The Longest Daycare. It was thoughtful and beautiful and still maintained the Simpsons charm

The other nomination that I enjoyed ended up as the winner. It’s a fun story that mixes the power of love and the forces of nature.
